Chicken Mushroom Skillet for a Quick Dinner

This Chicken Mushroom Skillet combines tender chicken and juicy mushrooms in a savory cream sauce, making it an irresistible dish. Perfect for a quick dinner, it’s ready in under 30 minutes without sacrificing flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g chicken breast fillet
  • 300 g mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 200 ml cream
  • 100 ml chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breast fillet into even cubes of about 2-3 cm. This ensures they cook evenly and quickly. (approx. 5 minutes)
  2. Clean the mushrooms and slice them thinly. This helps them become tender quickly while frying. (approx. 5 minutes)
  3. Finely chop the onion and garlic. This gives the sauce an intense aroma. (approx. 3 minutes)
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Make sure the oil is hot before adding the chicken. (approx. 1-2 minutes)
  5. Add the chicken cubes to the pan and fry them all around until golden brown (approx. 5 to 7 minutes). Be careful not to fry them too long to keep them juicy.
  6. Add the onion and garlic and sauté gently until the onion becomes translucent (approx. 2 to 3 minutes). Stir regularly to prevent the garlic from burning.
  7. Now add the mushrooms to the pan and fry until they are tender (approx. 3 to 5 minutes). The water from the mushrooms should evaporate and they should brown slightly.
  8. Pour the chicken broth into the pan and bring it to a boil. This helps to deglaze the pan and adds more flavor to the sauce. (approx. 2 minutes)
  9. Add the cream and let the sauce simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly (approx. 4-5 minutes). Stir occasionally to prevent it from burning.
  10. Return the browned chicken to the pan, mix well, and let it simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavors. (approx. 2-3 minutes).
  11. Season with salt and pepper and let it rest briefly before serving. (approx. 2 minutes).

Keywords: Avoid setting the heat too high while frying the chicken to prevent it from burning on the outside while remaining raw inside. Use a large non-stick pan to allow the ingredients enough space to cook evenly.
