These crispy cheese beef mushroom garlic toasts are a delightful snack that combines melted cheese, tender ground beef, and aromatic mushrooms. Perfect for a cozy evening or a gathering with friends!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices rustic bread, such as sourdough or baguette
  • 2 tablespoons butter or alternatively olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 200 g mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 100 g grated cheese, such as Gruyère, Cheddar, or Mozzarella
  • 1 teaspoon fresh or dried thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Choose 6 slices of rustic bread like sourdough or baguette. Toast the slices over medium to high heat for about 4-5 minutes until crispy and golden brown, being careful not to burn them as this could affect the taste.
  2. In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of butter or olive oil over low heat. Add the finely chopped garlic cloves and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden. This gives the toast an aromatic base.
  3. Increase the heat to medium and add the thinly sliced mushrooms to the pan. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and their moisture has evaporated. Ensure they remain soft but still firm to fully develop the umami flavor.
  4. Lower the heat and sprinkle 100 grams of grated cheese evenly over the mushrooms. Stir gently until the cheese is melted and creamy, which should take about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to let the mixture burn.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon of thyme leaves and ½ teaspoon of salt & pepper to taste. Let the spices infuse for another 2 minutes to intensify the aroma.
  6. Generously spread the mushroom-cheese mixture over the toasted bread slices. Garnish each toast with 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley for color and a touch of freshness.
  7. Serve the toasts hot, ideally immediately after preparation, to fully enjoy the flavors. Enjoy!

Nutrition

Keywords: Avoid toasting the bread slices for too long; they should be crispy but not hard. A good non-stick pan is important to prevent the mushrooms and cheese from sticking. Experiment with cheese ratios for a richer flavor.
